Surkhet. On the occasion of International Youth Day, a blood donation program has been completed in Birendranagar, Surkhet, the capital of Karnali Province. The blood donation program was organized by Birendranagar Sunchandi Vyasaya Sangh Surkhet, an organization of gold and silver merchants.
The chief guest of the program, President of Surkhet Udyog Banijya Sangh, Laxman Kandel, said that since blood donation is the best work of human life, such programs should continue to be organized. Dinesh Ghimire, chairman of the Birendranagar gold and silver business association, Surkhet, said that the program was organized to save human lives and instill the spirit of donating blood among the youth. He said, “Businessmen should not only be engaged in business but also in social service. As an example, we have organized a blood donation program. I would like to express my sincere thanks to Nepal Volunteer Blood Donor Society Surkhet, Nepal Red Cross Society, Surkhet Lions Club and Tikavali Store for coordinating us in this work.”
Prawash Kumar Shakya, central member and district president of Nepal Volunteer Blood Donor Society, who donated the most blood (79 times) in the province by participating in blood donation in the capital of Karnali province, was honored in the program. Similarly, 19 pints of blood were collected in the program, said Dependra KC, in charge of the Nepal Red Cross Society blood transfusion center.
