PM Dahal attains vote of confidence for 4th time
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has attained a vote of confidence for 4th time.
In the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting held on Monday, the majority of the Members of Parliament (MPs) voted in favor of PM Dahal’s proposal to take a vote of confidence.
According to Speaker Devraj Ghimire, 157 votes were in favor of PM Dahal, zero in opposition and 1 in neutral. 157 MPs were presented in the parliament. However, the Nepali Congress (NC) and other parties boycotted the votes.
Likewise, NC had encircled well since the beginning of the meeting. They didn’t participate in the voting process. They kept on chanting slogans within the well area during the voting process.
Earlier, PM Dahal attained 3 votes of confidence. He attained his first vote of confidence on 10 January 2023 (Poush 26, 2079), after being elected as the Prime Minister on 25 December (Poush 10). 267 votes were in favor and 2 against him at that time.
Similarly, he attained a vote of confidence on 20 March 2023 (Chaitra 6, 2079) after the CPN(UML) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) stepped back from support to the government. On that, 172 votes were in favor and 89 were against him.
He attained his 3rd vote of confidence on 13 March 2024 (Falgun 30, 2080), after NC stepped back from its support to the government where 157 were in favor and 110 were against him.
