Nepal took the second wicket of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the play-off stage of the ICC ODI World Cup Qualifier on Sunday. Spiran Sandeep Lamichhane took the second wicket of UAE. Sandeep returned UAE’s wicketkeeper batsman Aryans Sharma to the pavilion for 28 runs. Sandeep had him caught by Arif Shaikh for a personal score of 28 runs. When Aryans got out, UAE scored 64 runs.
Before that, Nepal’s opener Karan KC sent UAE’s opener batsman Asif Khan back to the pavilion for zero runs. Karan caught Asif in the second ball of the first over through wicketkeeper Arjun Saud. Losing the first wicket, UAE did not even open the account.
Nepal won the toss and decided to bowl first. Nepal, which has already been eliminated from the title race, has clashed with UAE for ranking. The winning team will compete against Ireland for the seventh place next Tuesday. The winning team against Ireland will be seeded seventh and the losing team will be seeded eighth.
Likewise, the team that loses in the match between Nepal and UAE will compete against America for the ninth ranking next Thursday. In the match against America, the winning team will be ranked ninth and the losing team will be ranked 10th. The World Cup qualifiers are being held in Zimbabwe.
