“Unconditional peace must be established in Manipur”
A delegation of opposition leaders belonging to the Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) has come to Imphal to get information about the real situation in Manipur, a northeastern state of India troubled by ethnic conflict and violence, and to call on the relevant parties to restore peace and order.

A 21-member delegation belonging to the opposition alliance will meet Manipur Governor Anusuya Uike at Raj Bhavan today and request the Governor to restore peace in the state.

Rashtriya Janata Dal MP Manoj Jha said that there is a program of handing over a memorandum to the governor, stressing that the delegation should make special efforts to maintain law and order in the state.

He said that he would request the governor to request peace as soon as possible and to inform Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah about the actual situation in the state.

In a press conference after visiting four camps where people displaced by ethnic violence are kept, the members of the delegation said that they are ready to discuss with the Center and give suggestions and advice for establishing peace.

Criticizing the Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government for not sending a similar team to the conflict-hit states, the opposition MPs said they would happily join Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s all-party delegation if invited by opposition leaders. They insist that there should be unconditional peace in Manipur.
