Various types of tips and information from around the world are available in the form of videos on YouTube. YouTube has about 2.5 billion users worldwide. Smartphone users can also come in contact with mobile viruses from YouTube videos that they are using regularly. This information was given by the cyber intelligence firm CloudSEK.
CloudSEK has released reports from November 2022 to date. According to reports, YouTube videos containing malware are increasing by 200-300 percent every month. This malware has been identified as Vidar, Redline, and Raccoon.
A link containing malware is most likely to be in a YouTube video that advertises that a cracked version of the software can be downloaded for free. Usually, users try to download cracked versions of software including Photoshop, Premiere Pro, AutoCAD 3DS Max, and AutoCAD.
This type of video is usually made with a screen recording app. But over the past few months, it has been built with the help of artificial intelligence platforms like Synthesia and D-ID. Such platforms provide free services but also spread malware.
The report also states that YouTube’s review process does not allow such cybercriminals to stay on its platform for long. YouTube deletes such videos as soon as it receives information about such topics so as not to harm users. Accounts that upload videos are also banned. According to the report, InfoStealer malware is found in this type of video which is specially designed to integrate the necessary information from the computer or device.
How to avoid
The first way to avoid such malware links is to not click on any YouTube video link. Usually, such videos are linked in the description. With those links, it is suggested that you can download the cracked version of any software.
