The debate over the fake Bhutanese refugee case is over. In that case, 5 government lawyers and 7 people, including the public prosecutor, have argued.

The District Court of Kathmandu has prepared to issue a remand order today after the counter argument was over on Friday. The debate on the fake Bhutanese refugee case was going on since May 21.

During the debate, the accused Kansan businessmen demanded that the investigation be carried out by freeing them from prison, while the government lawyers insisted that the accused should be kept in custody and the investigation of the case should be carried forward. The argument of the public prosecutor is that if the accused are released from prison, evidence may be destroyed and the investigation may be affected.

In that case, the police arrested former Home Minister Balkrishna Khan, former Deputy Prime Minister Top Bahadur Rayamazhi, Secretary Teknarayan Pandey, who was arrested in the same incident, former Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa’s security advisor Dr. Indrajit Rai, Bhutanese refugee leader Teknath Rizal and 18 others have been arrested and detained.

A case has been registered against 30 people in the refugee case. A case has been registered against them with a demand for punishment as they have committed fraud, fraud, organized crime and integrated crime. On top of that, in the case of a person holding a public position, an additional three years can be imposed. In addition to imprisonment, a fine of Rs. 28 crore 81 lakh has also been demanded. Twelve people are still absconding in the incident.
